Explanation of all charges
Two charges come out of every paid order on Foodie Enthusiast: the fee Stripe keeps for processing the card payment, and the service charge Foodie Enthusiast makes to the storefront. Neither is added to what the customer pays. This page explains each one and works both through on a $45.00 order.

Stripe is the payment processor behind every card payment on Foodie Enthusiast. Its published rate for an online payment with a U.S. card is 2.9% of the amount charged plus 30¢ per successful payment.
It is figured on the whole amount the card is charged — items, delivery charge, sales tax, and tip together — and Stripe deducts it before the money is paid out to the storefront's bank account.

Foodie Enthusiast's fee to the storefront for each order. It is a percentage of the order's items subtotal — after every promotion and customer discount, and before the delivery charge, sales tax, and tip, which don't count.
What the customer pays
Exactly what the cart shows: the items at their promo or discounted prices, the delivery charge when the order is delivered, sales tax when the storefront collects it, and any tip the customer adds, less any store credit applied. That total is what the card is charged, and it is what the order confirmation and receipt show. Neither of the charges on this page appears anywhere the customer looks.

Foodie Enthusiast service charge: a percentage of the items subtotal.
Stripe: 2.9% + 30¢ of the amount charged, for online payments with U.S. cards. Stripe's other charges apply only in particular cases: a card issued outside the U.S. adds 1.5%, a payment that needs currency conversion adds 1%, and a disputed payment (a chargeback) carries a $15.00 dispute fee. A refund returns the customer's money, but Stripe keeps the processing fee from the original payment. Standard payouts to the storefront's bank account are free. In the demo
The demo storefront runs its payments in Stripe’s test mode: no real card is charged and nothing is kept. The figures above show what a live storefront sees.
