Privacy Policy

Version 2026-09-22

This Privacy Policy explains what The Foodie Enthusiast (“Foodie Enthusiast”, “we”, “us”) collects about you when you use FoodieEnthusiast.com and the storefronts on it — as a visitor, as a customer, or as the owner or helper of a storefront — how we use it, who else sees it, and the choices you have. It is part of our agreements with you: the Storefront Owner Terms of Service if you run a storefront, and the Customer Terms of Service if you buy from one; words defined there mean the same here. By using the platform you agree to the practices this policy describes.

1. Who collects your information

Foodie Enthusiast runs the platform: the website, the accounts, the storefront tools, the ordering, the payments, and the pickup, delivery, and drop-site arrangements. Each storefront on the platform is an independent business that uses those tools to sell what it makes. When you buy from a storefront, both of us receive information about you. We hold it to run the platform under this policy. The storefront receives what it needs to fill your order and, under section 6 of the Storefront Owner Terms of Service, may use it only to fill orders and communicate about its storefront — never to sell it or to send unsolicited messages. Records a storefront keeps outside the platform are that storefront’s responsibility.

2. What we collect

Account information — your name, email address, phone number, and a password, which our sign-in provider keeps only in scrambled form that neither we nor they can read; if you change your email address, the addresses you used before; and, if you sign in by email link, the link we send you. Storefront information, if you run one — the business name, description, and pictures, the address customers pick up from, the name and address printed on your product labels, your tax settings, your state-law and licensing answers, your schedule and delivery area, and the people you add as helpers with the roles you give them. Order information — what you order, in what size and quantity, how you will receive it, the delivery address or drop site, delivery instructions, notes to the maker, the tip, any store credit applied, the totals, and the order’s progress from placed to handed over. Payment information — your card details go straight to Stripe, our payment processor, over its own secure connection; we never receive or store your card number, only a record of the payment: the amount, its status, and Stripe’s reference for it. Things you write — reviews, messages to a storefront or to Foodie Enthusiast, suggestions, and questions typed into the Help assistant. Signatures — the name you type when you accept a Terms of Service, with the version accepted and the date. Activity records — an audit log of changes made on a storefront by its owner and helpers, and the dates and times of orders, sign-ins, and settings changes. Technical information — your browser and device type, the pages you request, and your internet (IP) address, recorded in our hosting provider’s logs when you visit.

3. How we use it

To run your account and, if you have one, your storefront. To take, process, and hand over orders, and to show each storefront the orders placed with it. To send the messages the platform needs to send: sign-in and password-reset links, order confirmations and updates, review invitations after an order is handed over, and notices about your account or storefront. To show reviews on the storefront they were written about, under the reviewer’s first name and last initial. To work out delivery areas and delivery charges from zip codes, and sales-tax rates from a storefront’s business zip code. To answer Help questions and to check, as advice only, how an item is treated for sales tax (section 7). To keep the platform secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms of Service. To comply with the law and respond to lawful requests. To understand how the platform is used and improve it. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising — ours or anyone else’s.

4. Who else sees it

The storefront you buy from sees your name, email address, phone number, delivery address and instructions, order notes, and your order history with it. Everyone who visits a storefront sees its public listing: the business name, pictures, description, items, prices, pickup address, schedule, and its reviews and replies. Service providers work for us under their own privacy commitments and see only what their job needs: Stripe processes payments; Supabase hosts our database, sign-in, and uploaded pictures; Vercel hosts the website and keeps its access logs; Resend delivers our email; and Anthropic answers Help questions and item tax checks (section 7). The platform’s administrators — the System Owner and the platform admins they appoint — can see account, storefront, and order records in order to run the platform, help with problems, and settle disputes. We disclose information when the law requires it, to enforce our Terms of Service, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Foodie Enthusiast, a storefront, a customer, or the public. If Foodie Enthusiast is sold or merged, your information passes to the new owner under this policy.

5. Reviews, messages, and what is public

A review you write appears on the storefront’s page with your first name and last initial and stays until you change or remove it or the storefront hides it; the storefront’s reply appears under it. Messages you send a storefront are seen by its owner and the helpers it allows; messages to Foodie Enthusiast are seen by the platform’s administrators. Suggestions you send are seen by Foodie Enthusiast. Nothing else you give us is shown publicly.

6. Cookies and similar storage

We use cookies only to run the platform: a sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in; cookies that run the demo storefront (which view you are in, your visit as a demo customer, and whether you have seen the welcome); a cookie that remembers which sign-up experience you chose; a display-preference cookie for page zoom; and, for the System Owner, one that remembers a preview layout. Your browser’s session storage remembers a promotion banner you dismissed until you close the tab. We set no advertising or tracking cookies, we do not follow you across other websites, and we run no third-party analytics. Because we neither sell information nor track you across sites, Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals change nothing. If you block cookies, you cannot sign in.

7. The Help assistant and item tax checks

When you ask the Help assistant a question, the question and the platform’s help guide are sent to Anthropic, the company behind the Claude models, to compose the answer, and we keep the question and the answer to answer repeated questions and to account for what the assistant costs. When a storefront saves an item, the item’s name and description and the storefront’s state may be sent to Anthropic to check, as advice only, whether the item’s sales-tax setting matches the state’s rules. Anthropic processes this under its commercial terms, which do not allow it to train its models on what we send, and it receives no account, payment, or customer details. Please do not put personal information about anyone into a Help question.

8. The demo storefront

The demo storefront, My Home Bakery, is a sandbox for trying the platform. Whatever you enter in a demo session — as a store owner or as a customer — is kept only for that session and discarded when you leave the demo or when it is reset, which happens every night; payments there run in Stripe’s test mode and charge nothing. Do not enter real personal or card information in the demo.

9. Keeping your information safe

The platform is served only over encrypted connections. Access to a storefront’s data is limited by the roles its owner assigns, and the database enforces those limits row by row. Passwords are never stored in readable form, and card numbers never reach us at all. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us right away if you think your account has been used without your permission.

10. How long we keep it

Account information stays while your account exists. Orders are business records for the storefront that filled them and for us — they show what was sold, paid, taxed, and credited — and are kept as long as the law and ordinary accounting practice require, even after an account closes. Reviews and messages stay until removed. Help questions, tax checks, and audit records are kept as long as the platform needs them to work and to account for itself. When a storefront is deleted, its listing, settings, orders, pictures, and customer list are deleted with it; the accounts of its owner and helpers remain as ordinary customer accounts. Our hosting provider keeps its access logs for a limited time.

11. Your choices

Your Account page lets you change your name, phone number, email address, password, and saved delivery address at any time; a storefront’s owner changes its details under Settings. You can change or remove a review you wrote. To close your account, or to ask what we hold about you, message Foodie Enthusiast — from your storefront’s Inbox tab if you run one, from the Suggestions box on any storefront, or by email at support@foodieenthusiast.com — and we will act within 45 days. Closing your account removes your profile; orders you placed remain in the storefront’s records as business records, as section 10 says. The emails the platform sends about your account and orders cannot be turned off while the account is open, because they are how orders work. Depending on where you live, the law may also give you the right to confirm what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy of it, and opt out of its sale or its use for targeted advertising — neither of which we do. Use the same contacts to exercise those rights; if we decline a request, you may appeal by replying, and we will answer the appeal within 60 days.

12. Children

The platform is for adults who run and buy from home-based food businesses. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we post the new version here with its version date, and before a change that materially affects how we use your information takes effect we give notice on the platform. The version in force is the one shown at the top of this page.

14. Questions

Questions about this policy or about your information: message Foodie Enthusiast from your storefront’s Inbox tab, use the Suggestions box on any storefront, or write to support@foodieenthusiast.com. This policy goes with the Storefront Owner Terms of Service and the Customer Terms of Service.
